Taping your ankles will help to hold you in your bindings and prevent any cuts or blisters from friction (mainly in the salt and rough water). It also provides some support for your ankles.
If you are not familiar with the correct technique for taping you should seek some advice from a health professional (physio) to show you how it’s done. If you have never ‘taped up’ try it on your next training run to see if it makes a positive difference for you. Be aware that your feet swell while racing so keep the tape loose in the muscular area leading up to your calf, it’s easy to strap too tight which will cut circulation.
